 Just right January 6, 2009
This shredder fits nicely under a desk, is crosscut, handles all the daily mail and old file projects, and doubles as a regular trashcan. A good buy.

I bought one for my home and one for the office...great price. Shredder does exactly what's expected.
Plastic gears are a problem January 3, 2009

This is a great little shredder for the money. I had mine for 8 months before it broke -- truth be told, I was trying to cram way too much stuff in there when it broke. I took off the top and saw that I had sheared off the main gear, which was made of plastic (which makes sense given the price).
This would be a real easy fix -- just swap in a new gear -- but in contacting Fellowes, and in doing a number of Interent searches, replacement gears are not available. Fellowes replaced the shredder because it was still within its one-year warranty, which is great (and Fellowes customer service was great), except that now I have a broken shredder that will wind up in the landfill, when it would be such an easy fix. And that's not so eco-friendly.
Anyway, the short of it is, great personal shredder, but with the caveat that it's made with plastic gears for which Fellowes has no replacement parts available.

This is a nice, heavy duty product. Works so much better than others I have had too.
Great shredder. good bang for buck January 1, 2009
The shredder works great. I've been using it for aproximately 2 months now and have had no issues. It has great safety features, is easy to clean and simple to use. Although it says it can take a max of 8 pages at a time, I think that is pushing it, and I usually put in no more than 5-6 at a time. It also sounds like it's working quite hard when shredding a credit card or CD/DVD.
For the money, this has been a great buy and I would reccommend.
